Abstract

A partir de la pandemia se ha hecho evidente la necesidad de promover en los jóvenes la formación en las áreas STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), que garanticen la construcción y permanencia de las sociedades en un entorno sostenible. De acuerdo a las cifras presentadas por la ONU (2020) en su informe "Las mujeres en ciencias, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas en América Latina y el Caribe", la demanda por profesionales en estos temas en los próximos años no podrá ser cubierta de acuerdo a las estadísticas analizadas en las matrículas en instituciones de educación superior. Aunque ha aumentado la cobertura educativa son muy pocos los que eligen este tipo de carreras, notándose aún más esta brecha al diferenciar por género.

Since the pandemic, the need to promote training in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas in young people has become evident, which guarantee the construction and permanence of societies in a sustainable environment. According to the figures presented by the UN (2020) in its report "Women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in Latin America and the Caribbean", the demand for professionals in these subjects in the coming years will not be able to be covered according to the statistics analyzed in enrollment in higher education institutions. Although educational coverage has increased, very few choose this type of career, making this gap even more noticeable when differentiating by gender.
