Interesa destacar acciones de cuidado ambiental desde las bases comunitarias: educativas y de sensibilización ambiental que se adelantan en el ámbito de lo barrial, no siempre tan conocidas o “vociferadas” desde lo mediático, más no por ello carentes de importancia y de significativos impactos socio ambientales. La problemática central y macro que subyace es la crisis ambiental global, la que emerge de un paradigma de modernidad en lo que respecta a la relación hombre-naturaleza. Este paradigma, arraigado en Occidente, no sólo omite la dimensión natural del hombre, sino que niega la pervivencia de la vida y toda forma posible de desarrollo por acción de la naturaleza y todos sus ciclos ecológicos; respalda la extracción desmedida de recursos naturales y el descuido del hombre de sus entornos de vida, con el único propósito de incrementar o reproducir el capital financiero. El marco conceptual se fundamenta en las siguientes categorías de análisis: El Hombre como Ser Socio-Natural y Orígenes de la problemática ambiental, Cambio Climático, Territorio, Participación Social y Ciudadanías, el Cuidado, Ética del Cuidado y, finalmente, la Sustentabilidad. Estas categorías actúan como lentes para el abordaje, comprensión social, hacer las veces de puente de comunicación e interacción con los sujetos investigados y orientar los hallazgos obtenidos en procura de respuesta a la pregunta de investigación. El análisis se centra en la participación actual de los habitantes del barrio Alfonso López 1ª etapa en el cuidado de su territorio; identificándose una baja participación social y problemáticas en la actuación de la administración distrital y su articulación con las organizaciones sociales y la comunidad. Se busca comprender y reseñar cómo estos aspectos afectan la legitimidad e intervención, tanto de la institucionalidad, como de las organizaciones sociales y comunitarias, para asegurar la sustentabilidad del territorio, que incluye sus comunidades humanas.This social, qualitative, exploratory-descriptive research addresses the characterization of the social participation carried out by the inhabitants of the Alfonso López 1st stage neighborhood in the city of Santiago de Cali-Colombia; participation for the care of the territory and within the framework of the global environmental problem of Climate Change. It is interesting to highlight environmental care actions from the community bases: educational and environmental awareness that are carried out in the neighborhood, not always so well known or "vociferous" from the media, but not for that reason lacking in importance and significant socio-environmental impacts. The central and macro underlying problem is the global environmental crisis, which emerges from a problematic paradigm of modernity with regard to the man-nature relationship. This paradigm, rooted in the West, not only omits the natural dimension of man, but also denies the survival of life and all possible forms of development by the action of nature and all its ecological cycles; it supports the excessive extraction of natural resources and man's neglect of his living environment, for the sole purpose of increasing or reproducing financial capital. The conceptual framework is based on the following categories of analysis: Man as a SocioNatural Being and Origins of the environmental problem, Climate Change, Territory, Social Participation and Citizenship, Care, Ethics of Care and, finally, Sustainability. These categories act as lenses for the approach, social understanding, by acting as a bridge of communication and interaction with the subjects investigated and guiding the findings obtained in search of an answer to the research question. The analysis focuses on the current participation of the inhabitants of the Alfonso López 1st stage neighborhood in the care of their territory; identifying a low social participation and problems in the performance of the district administration and its articulation with social organizations and the community.
