Se indicó además que Colombia al tener el menor gasto de bolsillo y ubicarse por debajo del promedio establecido por la Organización Mundial de la Salud, les permite a los hogares colombianos destinar esos recursos en otros bienes o servicios. Sin embargo, esto no deja de ser una barrera para mantener una baja carga del gasto en salud, por ese motivo, en el trabajo se evaluó el impacto de los principales gastos de bolsillo en los hogares de Pasto, y como los mismos, generaron un impacto en la economía de la salud en el año 2018. Desde el punto de vista metodológico, lam investigación se orientó desde el enfoque cuantitativo, siendo un estudio descriptivo desarrollado bajo un diseño no experimental. La muestra fue probabilística, simplificada, estratificada y por conveniencia, estando integrada por 124 hogares de las comunas de la ciudad de Pasto. Como instrumento de recolección de la información se utilizó una encuesta asociada a cinco variables discretas: ingresos y gastos; honorarios médicos; compra de medicamentos; atención hospitalaria; otros servicios en salud. Los resultados de la investigación permitieron evidenciar que la participación de los gastos de bolsillo en salud de los hogares del municipio de Pasto en el departamento de Nariño para el año 2018 fue elevada, debido a que el sistema de salud colombiano, presenta un déficit general en todo el país, destacándose la inversión en medicamentos que no se encuentran asegurados el Plan Obligatorio de Salud, elementos para curaciones básicas, elementos de aseo personal, entre otros servicios, tales como los servicios odontológicos cuando son emergencias estéticas, entre otros.This research had the objective of estimating the out-of-pocket expenses of the health of the homes of the municipality of Pasto in the department of Nariño - Colombia, in the year 2018. It was also indicated that Colombia having the lowest out-of-pocket expenses and located below of the average established by the World Health Organization, allows Colombian households to allocate those resources in other goods or services. However, this is still a barrier to maintaining a low burden of health spending, for this reason, the impact of the main out-of-pocket expenditures on Pasto households was evaluated at work, and as such, they generated a impact on the health economy in 2018. From the methodological point of view, the research was oriented from the quantitative approach, being a descriptive study developed under a non-experimental design. The sample was probabilistic, simplified, stratified and for convenience, being integrated by 124 households of the communes of the city of Pasto. As an instrument for gathering information, a survey associated with five discrete variables was used: income and expenses; Medical fees; purchase of medications; hospital care; other health services.
