El trabajo social es una disciplina conocida por buscar el bienestar y la justicia social, al mismo tiempo que trabaja alrededor de desafíos socioambientales promoviendo el cuidado de las comunidades y el mejoramiento de sus vidas.Aun así, la disciplina del trabajo social no solo se enfoca en las necesidades individuales que embargan a la sociedad, sino que también investiga, analiza, interviene y pretende frenar el impacto negativo que sufre el entorno natural. Es por eso mismo que el presente proyecto tiene como finalidad el investigar y visibilizar la importancia de la educación ambiental en las universidades, al mismo tiempo que destaca la relevancia y aporte que el trabajo social puede brindar a la dimensión ambiental, siendo agentes de cambios que fomentan no solo el conocimiento responsable de esta área, sino también el papel crucial que como futuros profesionales podrán desempeñar. La investigación nace en el contexto educativo de la universidad UNICAMACHO y se usan diversos referentes para entender en primera estancia la influencia positiva de la educación ambiental en el impacto global, al mismo tiempo que se seleccionaron nueve actores claves que hablan no solo del medio ambiente, sino también de la influencia de trabajar la parte socioambiental y al mismo tiempo crear consciencia, interconexión y responsabilidad ética dentro de la institución educativa. Las percepciones usadas dentro de este trabajo incorporan teorías que hablan desde la creación del hombre y su convivencia con la naturaleza, hasta experiencias académicas que hacen de esta investigación todo un proceso donde se utilizaron herramientas de metodología cuantitativa, empleando técnicas de recolección de datos como la observación participante y la entrevista por medio de grupos focales, los cuales permitieron visibilizar las necesidades y exigencias que tiene la comunidad estudiantil alrededor de las falencias existente en la educación ambiental.

Social work is a discipline known for seeking well-being and social justice, while simultaneously addressing socio-environmental challenges by promoting the care of communities and the improvement of their lives. However, the field of social work not only focuses on individual needs within society but also investigates, analyzes, intervenes, and aims to mitigate the negative impact on the natural environment. This project aims to investigate and highlight the importance of environmental education in universities, emphasizing the significant contribution that social work can make to the environmental dimension. As agents of change, social workers not only foster responsible knowledge in this area but also play a crucial role as future professionals. The research is situated in the educational context of UNICAMACHO university, drawing on various references to understand the positive influence of environmental education on the global impact. Nine key actors were selected, addressing not only environmental issues but also the influence of addressing the socio-environmental aspect while creating awareness, interconnection, and ethical responsibility within the educational institution. The perceptions incorporated into this work encompass theories ranging from the creation of humanity and its coexistence with nature to academic experiences. This research is a comprehensive process utilizing quantitative methodology, employing data collection techniques such as participant observation and interviews through focus groups. These methods allowed for the visibility of the needs and demands of the student community regarding the existing deficiencies in environmental education.
